Kathmandu, April 23, 2025 — A formal case for contempt of court has been filed against the online news portal Nepalipen.com following the publication of a controversial article targeting the sitting Chief Justice, Honorable Prakash Man Singh Raut. The news portal, in an article published dated April 22, 2025 , alleged that Chief Justice Raut held a clandestine meeting with the former king of Nepal and accused him of improperly influencing a sub judice case concerning 52 constitutional appointments.
The case was heard today by a division bench comprising Justice Abdul Ajij Musalman and Justice Tek Prasad Dhungana at the Supreme Court. The bench issued an order to call for statement in response to the contempt allegations.
